John Roberts is ready for up/down vote

Why did the seven "maverick" Republicans have to go and make a deal with the so-called "moderate" seven Democrats? For weeks we have been hearing about John Roberts' confirmation hearings. Had we gone "nuclear" we would have had to waste time and money on these judiciary hearings and he could have simply had the up or down vote that he was due. Instead McCain and other RINO's (Republican in name only) decided to make a deal that would theoretically avoid a Democratic filibuster.

Fast-forward to today. John Roberts was granted his up or down vote by the Republicans and three Democrats. What a surprise! Democrats did not want to vote for him because he might be a Thomas, Rehnquist or Scalia, and actually read the Constitution before deeming the pledge of allegiance unconstitutional. Personally, I think that Thomas or Scalia should have been made Chief Justice, as they deserve the promotion. Next we get to go through the whole process again when it comes time to replace Sandra Day O'Connor. I guarantee the libs will be up in arms if Bush nominates Janice Rodgers Brown or Priscilla Owen, both women who also understand the meaning of the Constitution. Considering that the Republicans have both houses of Congress, an up or down vote would be very nice right about now.
